Bio: Micaiah

Micaiah Dempsey is a Bay Area–based Music Director, producer, and educator with over 15 years of experience in performance, arranging, composition, and artistic leadership. With ten years of classical piano training and seven years of jazz piano study, she brings a diverse musical foundation that informs her work across genres and settings. Her vocal development includes four years of instruction under Alexys Paris, which shapes her holistic, technique-centered approach to vocal instruction.

For over a year, Micaiah has taught Speech Level Singing (SLS) and currently works as a private instructor for her clients, focusing on vocal health, stylistic identity, confident performance, and music theory integration. Her teaching philosophy centers on individualized growth—adapting methods to meet each musician where they are while cultivating both technical precision and expressive artistry.

In Fall 2025, Micaiah served as Music Director for Berkeley Playhouse’s production of Annie, where she led a double cast of 28 young performers. She conducted and directed the orchestra pit, taught repertoire, led musical rehearsals, and collaborated closely with the director on score cuts, transpositions, and musical storytelling choices. She also worked individually with youth performers to strengthen their vocal parts, musicality, and confidence, helping shape a cohesive and polished production.

Beyond theater, Micaiah works as a freelance composer and producer, scoring and arranging music for a variety of artists and projects. Her work includes crafting original compositions, orchestrations, transcriptions, genre adaptations, and collaborative creations that reflect her versatility and attention to emotional detail. She has also toured as a Music Director and keyboardist—most notably with the artist Elujay—arranging and shaping live sets for professional performances.

Whether in the rehearsal room, the classroom, the studio, or onstage, Micaiah is dedicated to creating musical environments that are empowering, collaborative, and artistically rich. Her work continues to be grounded in community, creativity, and a deep commitment to helping artists discover and strengthen their musical voices.
