I’m A Raw Food Vegetarian, Because: Food Matters…
Believe it or not, some years ago, I stopped singing. Yes, as creative as I am and although many people think of me as being multi-talented, I haven’t always followed my Heart’s Desire. I, like so many others got sidetracked into goals and objectives that did not resonate with who I really was. It took me years of precious lost time before I realized in order for true happiness in my life, I needed to pursue a career in the arts, because that was my calling; that is who I am.
So, when I began to sing again, I thought, “Man this is hard! I don’t remember it being this difficult!” I remembered how vocally blessed I was and singing came natural to me. However, after much soul searching and internal probing, I realized that I had health issues I needed to address, before I could seriously consider singing as a career. I would eventually know for certain, I had acid reflux and hiatal hernia which cause large deposits of mucus to settle onto my vocal cords, which obstructs the ability of the vocal cords to vibrate freely. Therefore, if I wanted to sing, I had to find a cure or at least control it. I set myself on a mission to do just that, for I desired to use the precious gift of singing. What I learned would reshape my life forever.
Intuition guided me to heal it naturally (which is definitely the best way to go). I tried everything holistic: acupuncture, yoga, meditation, Qigong, running, weights, homeopathic medicine, Vitamin – B injections, SCIO/EPFX biofeedback… etc, etc. I changed my diet many times, eating less meat and more vegetables. And although many of these were and are positive steps in the right direction, I was still frustrated, and decided to go the allopathic western medicine route so many other Americans opt for without trying to heal things naturally. (I wanted and was going to have surgery but was told, it could make things worst – Thank Goodness, I did not!) The Universe was with me, so after being rejected for surgery, I returned to the spiritually natural healing path I started, and that was when I found the raw food diet.
I’ve been a raw foodhist since 2006, and have experimented with various raw food diets, read books on cleansing the body and fasting; I now fast one day a week. I feel I’ve come a long way towards healing. This past winter is the very first time in my memory, I can honestly say, I did not get sick from cold or flu – and believe me, that’s saying a whole lot! I’ve learned so much. There’s one resource I want to share with you which partly explains why I’m such an advocate of the raw food diet. It’s an important video you can stream online for 3 whole days, for less than $5.00. The name of this movie is Food Matters for I’ve learned, You Are What You Eat…
Based on statistics from the movie, the truth is that over 225,000 Americans die each year from modern medicine related causes, and this is the third largest cause of death each year! Only heart disease and cancer cause more deaths! Here are the statistics broken down:
Causes of Death Each Year In America:
- 1. 652,000 = Die from Heart Disease
- 2. 553,888 = Die from Cancer
- 3. 225,000 = Die from Modern Medicine!
– A. 106,000 people die from pharmaceutical drugs (They took medications as prescribed!)
– B. 39,000 people die from unnecessary surgery and other hospital errors
– C. 80,000 people die from other infections in hospitals
I would like to thank my friend and fellow singer, Glide Ensemble principal vocalist, Vernon Bush, who is also musical director of the Sunday Afternoon Fellowship Choir of which I am a member, for informing me about the movie. One does himself or herself a world of good just by eating 51% more raw vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, herbs, superfoods, and plant based oils than most cooked foods: See Food Matters…
